This is my first birth photoshoot and I’m kind of nervous.
That's completely understandable, (so was I) and as a mother, I fully appreciate the sacredness of stepping into someone else's birth space.
As you'll already have enough to focus on, my aim is for you to hardly know I'm there, however if you need me to get you a drink or even help fill the birth pool I'd be more than happy to!
My priority will always be to best hold your space for you as as you bring your baby earthside.
Are your birth sessions only in hospitals?
As a Registered Nurse I definitely know my way around a birthing suite, but I also know how much a familiar environment can reduce stress and anxiety during labour.
So whether it's in a hospital, or a more intimate setting, I would love to capture your story from where ever your chosen birth space may be.
Do you use flash during birth photography?
Birth often occurs in low light conditions. Even during the day, labour is more productive in dimly lit settings with curtains drawn. To ensure optimal picture quality, I utilise a professional flash, carefully bounced away from you, for a brief moment. I'm also skilled in capturing moments with only minimal lighting so if you prefer not to use a flash, please let me know, I'll do my best to accomodate.
How do you handle unexpected changes in the birth plan or complications?
Due to the unpredictable nature of birth, I will always be adaptable and understanding in the moment. Trust is important and my experience in hospitals and birthing will allow me to capture your birth story, even if it deviates from the original plan.
Are there certain moments that you won't capture?
Every client has different preferences, so it's important to discuss your comfort level and any specific moments you may want excluded with me prior. I will always respect your wishes, while still capturing the essence of the experience.
Do you have a backup plan if you can't make it to the birth?
In the very unlikely event that I'm unable to attend the birth for sickness, emergencies or any circumstances beyond my control, I have a network of colleagues who will be called upon to step-in and take my place if needed.
How many pictures will I receive?
The exact amount depends on the package you have purchased and the complexities of the birth session. However, my most recent clients each received well over 100 beautiful images from their session, to treasure forever.
How quickly will I receive the edited photos?
I'll do my very best to complete your album within 4 weeks, additionally I'll make every effort to provide you with a sneak peek of a few images within 48 hours of the session.
When is the best time to book a session?
As I have limited availability each month (to ensure enough time is allocated for an individual client's birth plan) I would suggest getting in contact as soon as possible so we can discuss timeframes and availability right away.
